So what is this page all about?  Well, it's my personal portal to the Web.  Think of it like my home office, I have all the things that I need handy to me like I do on my desk at home - pictures, stapler, books, telephone - in the digital version, I have all the services - banking & investing - clubs & interests - theater, TV & entertainment, and, of course, the weather - all at my fingertips.  I have one of these personal portals set up on my company's intranet for all of the things I need ready access to at work there as well.  In this case, I let everyone use my office - it's digital - it's free!  The whole concept of a personal portal, for home or work, allows me to wrap my daily processes around the tools I need.

As luck would have it, I am interested and involved in a whole bunch of fun activities and I thought this would be a great way to introduce others to the joys that I've had the pleasure to experience. This Web Site best viewed with the human eye and an open mind. Netscape and Microsoft -- knock yourselves out -- you can use any old browser for this-here site! I have purposely kept my page simple and to a minimum of images since it's much faster that way and my ISP account only allows precious few megabytes of disk space.

The Web Masters at some of these cool places, like Paramount, have great sites that are visually stunning, but even with an ISDN connection, they are ridiculously slow. I will indicate slow performers and if an image is available here, I'll put an thumbnail icon with size note and give you the choice to download.

This site was originally created with Notepad and my fingers typing out HTML, but I have moved beyond all that and given into a web page editor - in this case FrontPage 2000.  I held off for the longest time - just to be stubborn - and then to prove to myself that I still had it in me to keep up with HTML markup.  Now, I'm just too busy to mess with it and have removed myself yet one more layer of abstraction away from the microprocessor (I think I'm about eight to twelve layers away at this point in time).
